Texel (part 1)

Hey!
A few weeks ago I went to an island in the north of the Netherlands called Texel. I went there on a photography project/exchange called "WE Young People See Nature". WE stands for West- East, because it's an exchange between 2 Dutch (West-European) schools and one Polish (East-European) school.
We stayed  a week and I made a lot of pictures (1000+)

Texel is the biggest of a group of islands called the "Wadden-islands"

Day 1
We had a ride of 3 hours and rode across the country to get to Den Helder, where we took the boat to Texel.
On the road

Land!
I found this the least interesting day of all, because we had so much free time because there were no actifities planned and we had literally nothing to do as there was no WiFi and we couldn't go out.

As an attempt to kill time we started blowing bubbles and photographing them.
We then went sleeping because we knew we had to get up pretty early the next day.

Day 2

We got up and ate breakfast. After that we went on a bike trip across Texel and we stopped a lot to take pictures of the many poppies at the side of the road.

We then cycled to a sort of forest on the highest point of Texel; a place called "Hoge Berg"

Dogs we saw in the forest
We then went to a Georgian War cemetery, which was basically a field full of roses with a sort of gravestone at the front.

We went back to the house we stayed in and waited until the Polish group arrived.
We ate lunch together and after that we went to Oudeschild's harbor.

We had 1,5 hour of time to walk around and make pictures of sea-related things.

After the 1,5 hour we cycled for a while until we came across the sea. We stopped to make some photos that again fit the sea-theme.

In the evening we went back to the sea to walk in it. That may sound really weird, but the water had raised low enough so that you could walk in it.
It was so beautiful; it was the perfect temperature, the sun was starting to set (I love sunsets asdfghjkl;) and it was just so perfect and relaxing.

Day 3
The third day was honestly one of my favorites. First we visited the beach and the dunes. It was so cool, because there was so much emptiness. Everywhere where you'd look you'd see... nothing. Just sand and sea.
Dunes, but behind that...

...complete emptiness.
After we ate lunch on this empty beach we continued our trip. We stopped at a watch-tower to enjoy the view.

We cycled a little further to stop at a forest where we had 2 hours to make macro-photos.
My friend and I first got an ice-cream and then started our walk through the forest.

On this day the temperate was yet again perfect.
After we had  made some photos we actually just got lazy and found an open field where we laid down and talked until we had to go back.

After we ate fries with the whole group we cycled back to the house.

I hope you liked part one of my Texel-series.The other parts will be online soon!

Love always,
Daria
